Description
Item DescriptionIn the early 60’s Saul Marantz, Sidney Smith, and Richard Sequerra set out to create a FM tuner to compliment their already famous amp/preamp line. These 3 extremely gifted engineers/audiophiles approached this goal like no other company ever has, even to this date. They were true perfectionists whose primary concern was not profit margins but creating the finest FM tuner, regardless of what it took. This “no expense spared” approach proved to be not a great idea financially speaking, in fact the cost of developing the 10b was so great that it overextended the company’s resources thus forcing them to sell out to Superscope Inc; although the price they paid was extraordinarily great, in the eye’s of the three creators and their consumers, the resulting product was definitely worth it.
The 10b is pure sonic joy, it has outstanding clarity with astonishingly excellent detail and warmth. Its ability to cleanly pull in distant stations without distortion is unparalleled by any other. Additionally it is chock full of purposeful features and functions, that allow you ultimate control.
Condition:
Tuner powers on and receives faint signal. The CRT is operating. Tuner will need some work. As with most components in this age range, it will need an alignment and some of the time weary capacitors replaced. Cosmetically there is some dust and minor wear. Please see pics for details
