This listing covers a complete Alignment and a restoration of your McIntosh stereo tuner.  This assumes a basically sound unit that can be aligned and/or repaired. If for some reason your unit is determined not suitable for alignment, or you don't want to repair it, you only pay a 70.00 bench fee + return shipping.
Tuner alignment is not easy and the proper equipment is required. Unless your tuner is properly aligned, you are not hearing its true potential. Our Dual Sweep alignment ensures minimum distortion and maximum Sensitivity/Selectivity.
The Alignment includes:
Clean and lubricate tuning capacitor.
Clean all tube sockets and clean with Deoxit D5.
Check all tubes on a calibrated Hickok tester. Bad tubes replaced at extra cost.
Check for basic operation and note any bad parts. Customer is alerted to what, if any additional repairs are needed.
Align RF front End, Local Oscillator and Mixer for proper dial alignment and maximum sensitivity.
Align IF stages and discriminator for minimum distortion and symmetry with a Sound Technology 1000A Dual sweep generator.
Align Stereo MPX for minimum distortion and maximum separation.
Check for drift , sensitivity and tuning accuracy.
The restoration includes:
Replace all Audio capacitors with Metalized Polypropylene types
Replace all Electrolytic Capacitors with high temperature Low ESR type. Replace the Main Power Supply Can capacitor (top chassis mounted one) with a direct fit Can.
Replace Selenium rectifiers with 1N4007 diodes.
Check for out of tolerance resistors. Any found are replaced (at added cost).
Check Relays, Photo Cells etc. and replace at extra cost.
Disassemble front panel and clean inner and outer glasses.
Check bulbs. Replace at extra cost.
The price does not include tubes, bulbs, extra repair parts (other than those included in the service) or return shipping or packing if a new box is required.

Remove the knobs on the glass front panel. We will return it to you in your packaging. If your packaging is damaged, or we deem it not fit for shipping, there will be a nominal charge for packing (we use the UPS store for packing), so make sure you packing is rugged. Shipping is only a place holder, since it is required by EBay.
