Vintage 1950 Hoffman 537 / 538 Mono Tube Tuner Preamp from Chassis 168

This listing is for a Vintage 1950 Hoffman 537 / 538 Mono Tube Tuner Preamp from Chassis 168.
It came from a Hoffman model 538 radio / record player and comprises the tuner / preamp section of chassis # 168 (the
power & amplifier
section will be listed separately). The schematic is in Rider's Volume 22, which covers 1951, but the chassis is stamped "Jul 22 1950", so we're going with that.
Prior to listing it was brought up on a variac, while in the console and picked up stations on both AM and FM. The pointer moves when the tuning control is rotated. Sadly, we failed to note whether the 6E5 eye tube lit up, so don't know about that. The power supply / amp section of the chassis is being sold separately so unless you plan on putting this in a Hoffman console you will need to build or buy a power supply for it. The power plug is damaged and should be replaced. You will need to restore it prior to use and due to its age and the fact that older components can fail at any time it is sold as-is, as a restoration project, with no guarantee of operablility.
